Blacklight – $17 – Short Text

Need Help Finding ALL the Bacteria?

My Guarantee:
“My Pet Peed WILL WORK as long as it comes in contact with the odor/stain causing bacteria”

But for some, finding the source has been a challenge. Not any more.

FULL STORY:
Just like how I found the solutions that is now known as My Pet Peed, I set out about 6 months ago to find the perfect “tool” for helping find the source of the odor.

Simple UV/Blacklight…
There are a TON of cheap blacklights on eBay and amazon, but the majority of them I found out are absolutely junk (and actually are the same light sold under 50 different brands).

The two things I ran into when looking at lights were:
They didn’t “fluoresce” the bacteria with enough contrast to really see it clearly.
2) They lights were underpowered.

FIRST ISSUE: Bacteria Not Clearly Visible
Not enough contrast (to see the bacteria) is caused by not using the correct wavelength UV light bulbs.

Most of the lights out there are a 390nw wavelength, which gives off a really “purplish light”, and lights up bacteria in like a darker shade of purple.

The reason for this being the default wavelength is because it’s the cheapest, and it works “OK”, not great; but with fresh batteries, you can find some bacteria spots with a 390nw light.

My Solution:
As the wavelength number gets lower the purplishness of the light gets less, and the more “black” the light it gives off. Also the price of the light goes up (3x) from the 390nw –> 365nw lights.

In my testing the 380nw light shows bacteria the best. It actually lights up bacteria in like an electric blue color to make it SUPER easy to see where the bacteria is.

You can barely see the accidents (lighter purple) outline. This was with a 12 LED 390 nw blacklight from Amazon.com

Here you can see that by using the correct wavelength of 380 nw, pet accidents are now crystal clear in electric blue

SECOND ISSUE: Underpowered
The second problem was the lights (according to both my tests, and amazon reviews) were these cheap lights are underpowered, which means the contrast of the bacteria “darker purple” to “UV purple” isn’t super clear.

Most lights use either 9 LED bulbs or 12 LED bulbs in the light head itself.

In my experience, adding more low powered LEDs (going from 9 to 12) helps a little but not enough because they are low powered bulbs to begin with.

THE PROBLEM:
I did find some high powered 380nw lights that used one high powered LED bulb, but these flashlights were like $50-70 a piece and were (physically) BIG lights.

I knew a $50 light wasn’t going to do the trick because very few people would pay that much)

So my goal was to get a…
— single “high powered” LED
— in the 380nw wavelength
— that was about the size of the standard “cheap” flashlights you see on ebay and amazon
— for less than $30

MY SOLUTION:
I ended up contacting one of the largest LED flashlight manufactures in China (the guys who make the $50+ lights) and seeing if they would produce a custom spec light for me, and they agreed.

So my light is a high powered unit that uses a single 3 watt 380nw wavelength LED bulb, which And it is only about 5 millimeters longer than the cheap/junk lights that are out there still super compact and battery powered).
